Moraine Lake Cabin

Temporary Steel Housing

Seamlessly buoyant frame to inspire wonder …

Nestled along the rugged trail leading to Moraine Lake, this cabin frames the unique beauty of the
mountains and water within a glass-wrapped structure. Designed to host visitors and photographers, it
offers a quiet dwelling and a continuous visual connection to the extraordinary landscape.
The cabin responds to extreme climatic conditions, steep terrain, strong winds, and heavy snow,
through a metal superstructure anchored deeply into the ground and clad with natural stone to express
permanence. Exposed bracings secure the form against the elements while creating an elegant structural
rhythm that frames the surrounding views. By leaving these elements visible, the design maintains
honesty of construction and transparency toward nature.

A vertical access shouldn’t always be hidden away in the corners …

In most architectural projects, vertical circulation is treated as a secondary element—something tucked
away in the corners, simply serving its function. In this project, however, it became the starting point
of design. Set in downtown metropolitan Tehran, this mixed-use commercial and office complex
reimagines vertical movement as the two main cores that organize the entire building. These circulation
shafts connect the flows of two very different user groups: the permanent community of office
workers and the temporary visitors of the shopping floors.
Natural light plays a central role in shaping that experience. Beyond the glass façades, a series of
vertical voids and green terraces allow daylight to penetrate deep into the office floors, while offering
comfortable spots for coffee breaks, informal meetings, or simply a moment of pause amid work.
